Art

In Middle School Art, students learn about a variety of materials, artists and ideas as they create expressive and thoughtful art pieces. In grades 5 - 8, the first half of the year focuses on developing techniques and exploring materials in an ongoing study of design principles. In the second half of the year, 5th - 7th grade students learn about art history movements and artists. The final project brings together technique and inspiration in a creative piece, which the students exhibit in the art show at the end of the year. In 8th grade, the second half of the year sees students working in small groups on a collaborate piece. A stop-motion animated movie project combines learning from previous years and integrates technology as the students create original short movies that are displayed at the end of the year art show.
