Innovation Academy Charter School believes that the social, emotional and physical development of students is as important as academic development. To that end all middle school students participate in Health Education classes. The curriculum is divided into four strands: physical health, social/emotional health, safety and prevention and personal and community health. It is designed to support and encourage students to maintain and improve their health, prevent disease, and reduce health-related risk behaviors. Health classes combine small group discussions, role play, and independent work. Emphasis is placed on making real-world connections between Health Class content and the lives our students lead. |
