The math curriculum at IACS is a college preparatory program designed to meet students at their level of understanding as they progress through their high school years. The learning environment combines direct skills instruction and project based exploration of math concepts. It is an approach that engages students by assisting them in developing the skills needed to explore real –world problems and challenges.
Students with skill gaps are given the opportunity to receive additional instruction each day through our math enrichment program, a curriculum that supplements their grade-level math class. For those students who are able to meet the rigors of a more challenging curriculum, they are provided the opportunity to complete the first year of algebra in eighth grade.
The goal is to challenge all students to apply their mathematics knowledge in their lives by asking thoughtful questions, responding to others’ inquiries, and critically assessing and effectively presenting their own work.
