Project-Based Learning

The science curriculum is organized around major projects which incorporate the content and skills students learn into fun, hands-on project challenges. Past projects have included designing and building water bottle rockets to study the forces of flight, building model car crumple zones to understand laws of motion and energy during a crash, collecting and identifying life forms from the campus pond to observe the health of our ecosystem, and keeping a diary of astronomical observations. Science meets for nine hours/week over a semester each year. Longer project blocks allow more flexibility for hands-on, project-based work.
