MS Extracurriculars

  • After School Art

    Monday or Thursday from 3:00 – 4:30 pm.

    Next session starts the week of March 5.

    This 8 week open studio session is designed to give students access to a wide variety of materials and tools in the art room in order to create work of their choosing. Available media include drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed-media sculpture, collage, book making, paper mache, stop motion animation and more! There is a $60 fee for this program. Please fill out the registration form and submit payment by Friday, March 2. Questions about the program or to inquire about a scholarship, please email jshaby@innovationcharter.org.

  • Band

    Band meets twice a week after school from 3 – 4:30. There are two band groups: beginner band, which is for students who have never played their instrument/read music before, and meets on Mondays and Thursdays; and advanced band, which is for students who have played their instrument for at least a year, and meets on Tuesdays and Fridays. Band instruments include flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion.   • Chorus

    The Middle School Chorus  is open to all students in grades 5-8 who love to sing! Chorus meets on Half-Day Wednesdays from 12:25 – 1:45 in the Middle School Music Room (510). We do not meet on Full-Day Wednesdays. Students bring a bagged lunch, enjoy lunch together and then we sing! Students are to be picked up in front of Landberg Hall by parents at 1:45. We will be singing music in preparation of our December Concert. Middle School Chorus will start on Wednesday, September 13th at 12:25 – 1:45 in the Middle School Music Room with Mrs. Lane.

  • Dungeons and Dragons

    Calling all wizards, fighters and dungeon masters! Dungeons and Dragons is starting again. We will be meeting every Monday after school, from 3:00-4:00, in room 207. If you are interested, please have your parents email me at kmuhigi@innovationcharter.org.
    The start date for D&D will be Monday, September 25th. All levels are welcome, and please come prepared to play!

    We meet on half day Wednesdays during snack and recess or community meeting in room 510. The first meeting is on November 1st! ANYONE can join!  

  • Literary Magazine

    IACS MS Literary Magazine — The Scribbler

    Calling all artists and writers! Looking to find a place to publish your work?

    We’re looking for editors and anyone interested in putting together a literary magazine for the year. This is a yearlong commitment, and we are looking for students in good academic standing, who are hardworking and dedicated to publish a literary magazine by the end of the year.

  • Robotics

    Join the MS Robotics Club! Students will have the opportunity to build and program robots using Lego Mindstorms equipment. In order to involve as many students as possible, we’ll cap enrollment at 12 students, but run sessions of 6 weeks. The first session will run on Tuesdays from 3:00-5:00 Club in room 241 of the high school on 10/17, 10/24, 11/7, 11/14, and 11/21, and 11/28. Robotics will not meet on Tuesday, 10/31. Please sign up your child by emailing instructor Andy Morrison at andyp51d@yahoo.com with robotics in the subject-line. Sign-ups will be first-come, first-served with a second six-week session starting in December to get as many students involved as possible.
