College Counseling News for 9/9/16

1) PSAT Registration Reminder: PSAT Registration and Payment is due by September 15th for the Saturday October 15thtest date. All 11th grade students are expected to take the practice test and 10th grade students are highly encouraged. Students were provided practice test information so they should be familiar with the format prior to the test date.

2) College Admissions Financial Aid Workshops for Parents of 12th graders
Part I: College Financial Aid 101 Workshop on September 15th (6:30 pm-8 pm) at the Chelmsford Public Library. 
Part II: Getting Ready For FAFSA Workshop on Thursday October 20th (6:30 pm-8 pm) at the Chelmsford Public Library. It is strongly recommended parents of seniors register and attend both event to prepare for completing the FAFSA in the month of October.
3) There are 70+ colleges and universities visiting IACS this fall to meet with our seniors and juniors. Students should be signing up in Naviance to meet with these admissions representatives. The colleges/universities are also listed on the IACS All School Calendar
4) SAT and ACT Test Date Registration Reminders
SAT November 5th with Registration due by October 7th
ACT October 22nd with Registration due by September 16th
5) Seniors have done a great job scheduling meetings with me so far and they should continue to do (as many times as needed!) through the new online college meeting sign-up at
5) Seniors applying EA and/or ED with November 1st/15th deadlines should have applications submitted to colleges AT LEAST 1 week prior to the deadline (SAT scores requested at least 2 weeks prior) and communicate this via email with Mr. Barr
