Student Questionnaire, Naviance Self-Assessment Tools and Parent Questionnaire

Reminders are below and refer to the College Counseling Handbook for further info on completing the following steps:

Students should be using their Naviance accounts to access and complete the Student Questionnaire (plus the Strength Explorer and Career Interest Profiler). The “Class of 2018 College Questionnaire” can be found by signing into Naviance and clicking on “about me.” The questionnaire is listed under “surveys to take.” You do NOT have to complete it in one-sitting as make sure to save your work. It is suggested to save answers in a document on your computer and then cut/paste the answers into Naviance. This also allows you to access it more easily when you start to fill out applications in the fall. (The questionnaire is strongly recommended to be completed no later than January 30th)

Note: Students cannot schedule their college meeting with me until the college questionnaire is completed (individual student meetings begin on Monday February 6th). Stay tuned for info on how to sign up for meetings.

Please take the time to think carefully about these questions. Your honest and thorough answers will guide our conversations while helping you begin your college search.  This important self-reflection assignment constitutes a key step in starting the college process. In addition the more detailed and complete the questionnaire is, the more thorough and stronger your school recommendation letter will be (a rushed and poorly completed questionnaire will also result in a very brief recommendation letter submitted on your behalf as part of your college application review, please take your time!! ).

The Parent Questionnaire is extremely valuable to the college process as well (please submit it to me by January 30th)

Advisor Group Meetings

Mr. Barr and Ms. Morocco will be meeting with juniors in their advisor groups starting next week to discuss SAT/ACT registration and how to send scores to colleges, Naviance and College Search tools, senior year course selection and February meeting sign-up system.

Student College Meetings

Student  “One-on-One” Meetings begin on Monday February 6th. The meetings will be 30-minute blocks of time during the academic school day (or before school) that students will sign up for will be based on their day/time preferences and my availability. Note: Meetings are for students only and can only be scheduled after the student questionnaire is completed.

IACS-THS College Fair Reminder

On Thursday February 16h, 6:30-8:00 pm, Innovation Academy and Tyngsboro High School will once again be partnering together to host a College Fair (at THS).  There are currently over 60 colleges registered to attend with more RSVPs still to come. A full list of the colleges that will be represented at the college fair will be shared with families next month. Students and parents should make every effort to take advantage of this opportunity.
