December is a special month in that the following five students have been selected as “Seniors of the Month”: Devin Cook, Kevin De La Cruz, Chandler Dilworth, Emily Lyons, and Meghan Spence. Faculty and seniors nominate students and then I have the difficult task of selecting the winners. Devin Cook was nominated for being a great friend and for showing real growth as a student and community member. Devin is known for greeting teachers with a nice hello, holding doors for people, and he is always happy to engage in conversation with adults in the building. Kevin De La Cruz has demonstrated outstanding community membership skills. He is a great leader in his classes. He is always willing to help classmates of any grade level. He sets a great example for our younger students, and he always asks how he can be of help to his teachers within and out of class time. Chandler Dilworth is a meticulous student who works incredibly hard without every trumpeting his achievements or his work ethic. Chandler is ceaselessly polite and respectful to his teachers and challenges himself to do things that are outside of his comfort zone. Emily Lyons is someone that her teachers and friends can always count on as she has been an active member of the IACS community since her freshmen year. She is a huge help as part of the A/V crew with school musicals, has organized multiple Choice Block classes, and is currently co-leading the Lecture Hall Live series. Last, but not least, Meghan Spence was recognized for being a great help to her classmates, especially in Calculus. She is described as being dedicated to her schoolwork, humble, punctual and a really caring and helpful friend. She also has a really nice Scooby Doo bumper sticker which says “What would Scooby Doo?” What more needs to be said? Congratulations to all five of these seniors for being such great community members.
