As many of you are already aware, at IACS, all students have a Google account. This allows students to access email as a communication tool with teachers and Google drive to create, share, and edit documents.
This year, our middle school teaching staff will universally be using Google Classroom to support student learning. This will replace individual teacher webpages. Teachers will post their homework within Google Classroom and share important reference sheets with students, such as rubrics using Google Classroom.
If you would like to see how we are using Google Classroom, your student can access Google Classroom (and their Google account) from home with their school log-in information and password. Students can log-in from a web browser or using the Google Classroom app available on IOS or Android. If your student forgot to write the homework down or needs another copy of a rubric, please remind them they can find that information on Google Classroom.
Some teachers may also opt to assign and collect some assignments through Google Classroom. Today you will receive an invitation that would allow you to see weekly summaries of student work assigned and collected via Google Classroom. Please accept the invitation if your family would find this helpful. Please know this is not intended to replace x2 Aspen, our online gradebook. Only on x2 Aspen will you find current grades and information about all assignments. That said, many teachers and families that have used Google Classroom previously found these weekly notifications helpful.
Our staff feels that Google Classroom will be a support to students in being able to reference homework and other important course information and will streamline this for students (rather than sharing this information on individual course webpages).
