It is a little known fact that while there is only one English and Math MCAS exam that all grade 10 students take state-wide, high schools can choose one of four Science and Technology exams for their students to take in order to meet the state graduation requirement. The four science exams are: Technology/Engineering, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. Our students have always taken the Technology/Engineering exam in June of their freshman year, but we have decided to switch to the Biology exam. All of our sophomore students take Biology, so beginning with this year’s freshmen, they will not take the Technology/Engineering exam at the end of the year and instead will wait until the end of their sophomore year to take the Biology exam. We believe our students will do very well on the exam and that this will be a positive change for them.
