IACS Newsletter for the week ending December 22, 2017

Dear IACS Community,

On behalf of the entire IACS staff, I’d like to wish you all happy holidays as we close out the year. In lieu of a more extended letter, I’d like to share a couple of updates and reminders:

  • Thank you for such a huge turnout at both Middle School Quality Nights as well as the High School Exhibition Night. We know that the huge turnout for Tuesday Night’s “double header” made parking challenging and we’ll certainly take that into consideration when planning future events.

  • In the next few days, you should be receiving our annual copy of Outcomes, the annual magazine of IACS. If you’d like to look at an electronic version of this magazine, click here. If you don’t receive a copy in the mail in the next week, or you’d like a friend/family member to receive an edition, please email the main office. (

  • Our Annual Giving Campaign launched in November has got off to a great start. Families have not only expressed support for the school through donations, but by also relaying stories about why IACS has been such an important part of their family’s life.

  • Thank you for all of your support in 2017 and here’s more great things in 2018!

    In partnership,

    Greg Orpen
    Head of School

    New! Community Book Club

In our new Community Book Club, we will be picking a book and discussing it. For January, we have chosen the book Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates. This book is Coates’s explanation of our Nation’s history and current state to his young son. Mainly, Coates confronts cultural issues and asks questions such as: Have we come as far as we think we have regarding questions of race?

We plan to run our first book club meeting on Tuesday, January 30th after school in the library. Students, teachers, and families are all welcome! Food will be provided! We will be meeting monthly on Tuesday afternoons from 3:15-4:15. Once we complete our first book, together we’ll pick our next one to read! Copies of our books will be available in the library to be checked out. Please have the book, or most of read, prior to this meeting. You don’t have to buy a copy of this book, just have ideas ready to be discussed!

Please email,, or if you are interested or have any questions!

    MS Enrollment Events

Our first of two middle school open house programs for prospective families will take place on Saturday, January 6th from 10 am -12 pm. Please spread to the word to neighbors and friends that you think may be interested in learning more about our middle school program. Childcare will be available.

IACS School Nutrition Program: The January Breakfast and Lunch Menu is posted here. This month’s menu features three new recipes: Chicken Cordon Blue, BBQ Pulled Pork and Orange-Chicken Rice Bowl all made with fresh wholesome ingredients in the IACS kitchen.
