IACS Newsletter for the week ending January 4, 2019
Dear IACS Community,
Today in advisory I learned that I was the only one in the room who was asleep before midnight on New Year’s Eve. While my advisees might label me as being lame, they also agreed that television coverage of Times Square wasn’t exactly "must see TV". Joking aside, this extra rest felt necessary not just because of a busy 2018, but also to prepare for an equally busy 2019.
As you’ll read in the sections below, there are many academic benchmarks and extracurricular activities taking place in the coming weeks. On an academic note, it’s important that we help our students stay focused as they finish Semester 1, which ends on Thursday January 17th. It’s often said in the sports world that most games are won or lost in the final minutes; the same can be said for school given that classes have end of semester exams and projects.
On another 2019 note, we’re entering the busiest time of year for 2019-2020 student enrollment. Tomorrow our middle school will be hosting its first Open House (the second will be February 7th), while our high school will host its second Open House on January 16th. If you have friends and/or neighbors who are interested in IACS, please encourage them to attend.

Semester 2 will bring some shifts to student schedules. At the middle school, students will be shifting their semester-long classes. Semester 2 Schedule Change Requests
Students were sent an email this week on how to request changes to their schedule for semester 2. Requests for changes will be accepted up until 5pm on January 28th (5 school days after the semester begins on 1/22). All changes that can be made will be done by the morning of 1/22 and students will receive a printed copy of their schedule during a short advisory block that morning.
Snowcoming is 23 days away! Tickets will be sold during every lunch from now until January 25th for $10. Students that have not completed their community service hours for tardies to school may not attend this dance.
Are you able to donate any of these items to the Winter Semi-Formal?
