Week ending September 27th
Dear IACS Community,
As you may know, IACS has entered its second full year in its "IACS 2025" strategic plan. If you haven’t had a chance to read this plan, please consider doing so as this document establishes the Campus, Community, and Campus goals we’re working toward over the next six years. One of the goals in IACS 2025 is to leverage our campus to support local agriculture and to help us work towards that goal a cohort of IACS staff members attended the Northeast Farm to School Institute this summer in Shelburne Farms, VT. A big thank you to Nancy Tripp (MS Social Worker), Donya Sammon (Food Services), Joel Friedlander (HS Student Services), Holly Schrader (MS Science), and Anna Cynar (HS Science) who attended.
A cohort of staff have continued meeting this year along with a coach from the Farm to School Institute to plan beginning steps as well as visioning longer term outcomes. When will cows be seen on the IACS campus? Who knows, maybe sooner than you think! 🙂 If you have an interest in local agriculture and what that might look like at IACS, please feel free to send me an email so you can get connected.

Aspen Family Portals
Family Portals in Aspen allow parents/guardians to see a student’s schedule, attendance, missing work, and grades as well as progress reports and report cards when they are released. All families have been emailed logins. If you have not received your login or have forgotten yours, please contact Katie Hoyer, email@example.com, 978-649-0432 x 2142 for assistance.
If you have not previously accepted an invite to follow your child’s Google Classroom, that was sent this week as well. Google Classroom is primarily a tool for students to access class materials, rubric, and homework reminders. Some teachers assign work via Google Classroom so accepting the invitation allows you a weekly digest of assignments. It will not have all work assigned; Aspen is the primary tool for families and students to monitor progress, but some families consider Google Classroom a helpful add-on.
