Dr. Abiche Dewilde holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology and spent 20 years as a university professor, developing a deep understanding of how to guide young people through the interpersonal dynamics of team and academic life. Her volleyball journey began on her JV team in 6th grade and carried her through a varsity career, where she served as captain in her junior and senior years, followed by three seasons as an outside hitter on WPI’s varsity team until an injury ended her playing days. That lifelong love of the game, combined with two decades of mentoring students, shapes her approach to coaching — one focused on skill-building, leadership, and helping every athlete grow both on and off the court. She’s excited to bring that experience to Innovation Academy’s JV team this season.
