Alan taught for 38 years, and also served as a curriculum coordinator and teacher mentor. He began working at IACS in 2011, coordinating systems thinking within the grades 5-12 curriculum. He is coauthor, with Rob Quaden, of The Shape of Change, a two-book series that engages students in games and simulations that teach basic system dynamics concepts such as change over time and feedback loops. Alan has also written four science books, including Science Giants, his trilogy of books about physical science, life science, and earth and space science. He graduated from Brandeis University and earned Masters degrees from the State University of NY and Lesley University.
