Christy Mae received a B.A. in Sociology and a B.S. in Family Science from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst in 1998. Following up on work she had done as an intern with the Department of Public Health, Christy Mae became a grassroots advocate for the state’s anti-smoking and secondhand smoke campaigns through work with local Boards of Health. Through her community outreach and educational campaigns, Christy Mae found her love of teaching. After receiving her Post Baccalaurate Teaching Certification and M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Framingham State College, she taught 3rd and 4th grade for 10 years in Sudbury, Massachusetts. Outside of school, Christy Mae loves to compete in running events, garden, draw, attend concerts, and spend time with her husband, two daughters, dog and cat. Christy Mae was excited to join the IACS community in 2015.
