Coby Formaggio is thrilled to join the IACS community as a chemistry and engineering teacher! Coby received a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Tufts University and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Education. He has previously taught at Arlington Public Schools and at Congregation Beth Elohim. Coby aims to build a classroom environment that is welcoming, engaging, and collaborative.
To reach Coby outside school hours, the Trader Joe’s cheese isle is a good place to start. (He founded the Tufts Cheese Club in 2020.) Coby can also be found exploring the backcountry. This past year Coby lived on Mount Washington for three months and backpacked 550 miles across Spain. Coby loves a good book, and would recommend Ted Chiang’s “Stories of Your Life and Others” to anyone who has made it this far in his bio.
Coby Formaggio was interested in science at a very young age. At three years old, baby Coby spent hours throwing rocks and sticks into a nearby lake. His scientific conclusion: rocks sink, sticks float. Coby is very excited for the density lab.
