John joined Innovation Academy after working at the Francis W. Parker Charter school in Devens. Previous to teaching, John worked in industry for over twenty years where he held responsible positions in both large and small companies (Polaroid, Kodak, CMGI, etc.) developing new products, managing sales and operating his own international business. When industry no longer offered intrinsic rewards, he was ready for a change. His new journey began six years ago when he started substitute teaching, an experience which confirmed for him how much he enjoyed working with kids. Since then, he has acquired his teaching certification. John earned an electrical engineering degree from Duke University. For twenty years, he has lived locally in Harvard, MA with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys skiing, biking, astronomy, singing and family activities.
