Nick is a visual artist with a background in special education and an interest in gender studies & equality. In his art classes he works on a variety of skills that address both the educational and artistic demands for students. In this way, work is individualized with the students personal dynamic being featured at the forefront of what they create. Nick’s work in special education has allowed understanding and flexibility to take weight in his practice; students executive function skills, organization, time management and planning are facilitated through his general practice. Nick is an openly queer person who uses he/they pronouns. The privilege of being a queer person in a teaching role plays a large part in his work- his personal identity creates space and advocacy for diversity and equality. Outside of teaching, Nick can be found looking for new foods to try, playing video games, or practicing aerial yoga.
