Sophia Flabouris
MS Girls JV Basketball Head Coach

Sophie Flabouris is a physical education teacher at the Stoklosa Middle School in Lowell. She began her coaching career in 2001, coaching volleyball and girls basketball at Ste Jeanne D’Arc School, where she remained for 12 years. She then transitioned to coach at Innovation Academy, where she was hired to begin the high school varsity volleyball program. She coached the Innovation high school varsity volleyball team from 2014-2018. During this period, she also served as an assistant coach for the high school girls varsity basketball and softball teams. 

Sophie is a certified basketball referee and has been an active official since 1995, officiating the sport at a variety of levels (including recreation, travel, high school, and state tournaments). Sophie has earned a number of coaching awards, including EAA Coach of the Year in 2008. She has also garnered league championships during her tenure at SJA – her volleyball program won the league four consecutive years (2008-2011) and her basketball program was crowned EAA champions during the winter 2011-2012 season. 

Sophie is excited to return to Innovation Academy as the middle school girls JV basketball coach for the winter 2023-2024 season. She prides herself on building a strong team culture and spending time on the fundamentals to build a solid basketball foundation for both new and experienced athletes.
